Skye has everything from short rambles along marked trails to challenging walks along craggy ridges in the Black Cuillin Mountains.
There are twelve Munros on Skye. Some are accessible to the walker; others such as the famous ‘In Pin’ require climbing and a rope to complete the ascent. Although not quite as high, the Red Cuillin Mountains are also great for walking with some fine views. Away from the lofty summits, many other parts of Skye have their own distinctive walks. A selection of these have been joined together to form a long distance route, the Skye Trail. The website Walk Highlands has an excellent online guide to all kinds of walks and trails on the island.
